Mestiza Taqueria - Mexican Filipino Fusion Food

If you’re a lover of Mexican food like me you will love Mestiza Taqueria in San Francisco’s SoMA neighborhood. What sets this taqueria apart from the others is that the food is a fusion of Mexican and Filipino cuisine with some Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Indonesian influences too. The result of this combination is amazing with so many good flavors! You can taste adobo empanadas with filipino pork or carne asada tacos with a side of sweet plaintains. I also like their guacamole verde and gulf shrimp ceviche and want to go back to try their sangria and aqua fresca.

I’ve gone a couple times with co-workers for lunch and it’s so much fun to buy several plates for the table so we can try many things at once but you can also buy individual burritos and bowls or salads if you don’t want to share this good stuff with anyone else. The decor is wonderful too with lots of plants hanging above the tables and vibrant and colorful wall paper plus there is an outdoor patio in front of the restaurant to sit out and enjoy this warmer and quieter part of the neighborhood.
